ABOUT US
Two brothers with a dream that turned them into Sonoran Kings!
The 'Dos Reyes' (Two Kings) have something Steel City is lacking, specifically it's Sonoran style Mexican food.
While there is definitely a lot of Mexican food in Pittsburgh, there are only a couple of places who offer Sonoran dishes. These dishes are typically what you would get from Southern California, Arizona, or Sonora Mexico, and the flavor profiles are very different from Tex Mex and other regional Mexican food.
Chef owners Rich Santistevan and Eddie Lilliock have a combined work experience of over 50 years. They have worked together opening many new kitchens across Arizona and Pennsylvania, crafting new menus, and training staff.
They ended up moving across the country from Phoenix to Pittsburgh as a team in 2005. The 'Dos Reyes' have been kitchen managers over the decades in long standing establishments. One of the places they have in common is 'Elvira’s Mexican Food'.
Elvira’s was a beloved establishment in Apache Junction, AZ and owned by Rich’s in-laws. Eddie was a patron of Elvira’s for decades and a family friend before beginning his culinary career with Rich at Fat Tuesday in Tempe, AZ.
Carlyn “Chuck” Santistevan is Rich’s wife and Elvira’s granddaughter. Working at Elvira’s restaurant was Chuck’s first job and introduction to over 30 years of customer care (roughly 15 in food service). When the three relocated to Pittsburgh it was evident, they needed to share “Nana Vera’s” Mexican food with the Steel City.
Their team was completed when Eddie’s wife
Erin Lilliock
joined in. She has over 20 years in food service and is versed in various operating systems. Erin is also very talented at ensuring things run smoothly due to her strong organizational skills and experience.
Dos Reyes
was started with tax returns, a couple of 6 foot tables, and a dream. We began by serving lunches at a warehouse and expanded to coffeehouses and breweries. Now we have been able to grow from our table and canopy set up into a 14 foot
food truck
trailer.
We look forward to continuing to build our dream in the Steel City and we’re so grateful to everyone who has helped us achieve our goals! We cannot wait to feed you and your family with our famous Sonoran style Mexican food!
